As Howard Zinn writes
Our ethos is all that we currently hold to be true. It is what we act upon. It governs our manners, our business, and our politics.
I take inspiration from childhood memories, local folklore and stories based on the experiences of mainly women. Concepts like autonomy, agency, grief, generational ties, love, beauty, desire, who and which institutions have access to them interests me. My practice comes from a personal space and strives to blend what a person experiences first as an individual and then as part of the community.

My deeply meditative paintings convey concerns in a subtle way and gradually become more direct through the use of intense colors and hues of red. I primarily work in watercolors because it helps me embrace experimentation through exploring color relationships and ambiguity of the medium. The watercolors fuse into each other, giving an ethereal quality which further communicates a sense of impermanence and transcendence. I also find photography as an effective medium of storytelling, and I mostly indulge in self-portraiture because I find the idea of making your own self the central subject of your story more vulnerable and emotive.

The paintings evoke moods of tranquility through color and compositions, where the isolated figures are exhausted by noise, chaos and strive for nuance, rhythm and restraint. Hence, my practice seeks to intrigue the audience while also allowing them to self-reflect as individuals with conscience. Through the gentle sadness evoked by these wistful paintings, these works comment on the transient nature of life.
